Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • ยฝ cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth (low sodium preferred)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
  2. In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, finely diced onion, salt, and black pepper. Form into hamburger steaks.
  3. Place steaks in a greased baking dish.
  4. For the gravy, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add flour and whisk for 1โ€“2 minutes.
  5. Slowly add beef broth and heavy cream while whisking. Add sliced onion and garlic powder. Simmer until thickened.
  6. Pour gravy over hamburger steaks.
  7. Bake 30โ€“35 minutes until steaks are fully cooked and gravy is bubbly.
