This Amish Hamburger Steak Bake features juicy hamburger patties smothered in a rich, creamy onion gravy. Itโs a comforting, hearty casserole perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 blend)
- ยฝ cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 onion, finely diced
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth (low sodium preferred)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, finely diced onion, salt, and black pepper. Form into hamburger steaks.
- Place steaks in a greased baking dish.
- For the gravy, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add flour and whisk for 1โ2 minutes.
- Slowly add beef broth and heavy cream while whisking. Add sliced onion and garlic powder. Simmer until thickened.
- Pour gravy over hamburger steaks.
- Bake 30โ35 minutes until steaks are fully cooked and gravy is bubbly.
