Description

Amish Hamburger Steak Bake combines juicy hamburger steaks with a creamy, rich gravy for a comforting family dinner. Topped with onions and served with mashed potatoes or rice, itโ€™s a classic hearty meal.


Ingredients

Hamburger Steaks:

  • 2 lbs Ground beef – 80/20 blend
  • ยฝ cup Breadcrumbs – plain or seasoned
  • 1 Egg – beaten
  • 1 Onion – finely diced
  • 2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper

Creamy Gravy:

  • 3 tablespoon Butter
  • 3 tablespoon All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Beef broth – low sodium
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 Onion – sliced
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC).
  2. In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and black pepper. Form into patties and place in a greased baking dish.
  3. Bake patties 20 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, make the gravy: melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook 1 minute. Gradually add beef broth, whisking until thickened. Stir in heavy cream, sliced onions, and garlic powder. Cook until onions are tender.
  5. Pour gravy over baked hamburger steaks and return to oven for 10 more minutes.
  6. Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or vegetables.

  • Can prepare patties ahead and refrigerate before baking.
  • For extra flavor, sautรฉ onions first before adding to the gravy.
