Description
Amish Hamburger Steak Bake combines juicy hamburger steaks with a creamy, rich gravy for a comforting family dinner. Topped with onions and served with mashed potatoes or rice, itโs a classic hearty meal.
Ingredients
Hamburger Steaks:
- 2 lbs Ground beef – 80/20 blend
- ยฝ cup Breadcrumbs – plain or seasoned
- 1 Egg – beaten
- 1 Onion – finely diced
- 2 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Black pepper
Creamy Gravy:
- 3 tablespoon Butter
- 3 tablespoon All-purpose flour
- 2 cups Beef broth – low sodium
- 1 cup Heavy cream
- 1 Onion – sliced
- 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC).
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and black pepper. Form into patties and place in a greased baking dish.
- Bake patties 20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, make the gravy: melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook 1 minute. Gradually add beef broth, whisking until thickened. Stir in heavy cream, sliced onions, and garlic powder. Cook until onions are tender.
- Pour gravy over baked hamburger steaks and return to oven for 10 more minutes.
- Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or vegetables.

- Can prepare patties ahead and refrigerate before baking.
- For extra flavor, sautรฉ onions first before adding to the gravy.
