Ingredients
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp ground allspice
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/2 tsp ground cardamom
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 pinch salt
- Sanding sugar, for topping
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 7 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup milk
- 4 medium pears, peeled and chopped into 1/2-inch pieces
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and grease a baking dish.
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, nutmeg, and salt.
- Add melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract, mixing until a soft batter forms.
- Place chopped pears evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- Drop spoonfuls of batter over pears and gently spread to cover partially.
- Sprinkle sanding sugar on top for a crunchy finish.
- Bake for 35โ40 minutes until topping is golden and pears are tender.
- Cool slightly before serving. Optional: serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
