Ingredients

  • 2 slices bread
  • 1 large egg
  • ยฝ cup (2 oz) grated cheese (cheddar, pepper jack, or gruyere)
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh herbs (thyme or rosemary)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat or preheat oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC) if baking.
  2. Place bread slices on a baking sheet or skillet.
  3. Crack an egg on top of each slice, keeping it in the center.
  4. Sprinkle grated cheese and chopped herbs over the egg and bread.
