Description
Chicken Shawarma with Garlic Sauce is an easy, flavorful, and authentic Middle Eastern dish. Tender chicken strips are marinated in a blend of aromatic spices and lemon juice, then cooked to perfection. Serve with warm pita and creamy garlic sauce for a restaurant-style meal at home.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs boneless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into strips
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine olive oil, cumin, paprika, turmeric, coriander, cinnamon, garlic, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper.
- Add chicken strips and toss to coat evenly. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, preferably 2 hours.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken for 5โ7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cooked through and slightly charred.
- Serve hot with pita bread, fresh vegetables, and your favorite garlic sauce or yogurt sauce.
Notes
- Chicken can also be grilled for added smokiness.
- Marinate overnight for more intense flavor.
- Leftover chicken works great for wraps or salads.
