Description

Chicken Shawarma with Garlic Sauce is an easy, flavorful, and authentic Middle Eastern dish. Tender chicken strips are marinated in a blend of aromatic spices and lemon juice, then cooked to perfection. Serve with warm pita and creamy garlic sauce for a restaurant-style meal at home.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into strips
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine olive oil, cumin, paprika, turmeric, coriander, cinnamon, garlic, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Add chicken strips and toss to coat evenly. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, preferably 2 hours.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken for 5โ€“7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cooked through and slightly charred.
  4. Serve hot with pita bread, fresh vegetables, and your favorite garlic sauce or yogurt sauce.

Notes

  • Chicken can also be grilled for added smokiness.
  • Marinate overnight for more intense flavor.
  • Leftover chicken works great for wraps or salads.
