Description

This Crockpot BBQ Chicken recipe is an easy, flavorful way to make tender, juicy pulled chicken. Slow-cooked in a smoky-sweet BBQ sauce with a hint of spices, itโ€™s perfect for sandwiches, tacos, or serving over rice.

Ingredients

  • 4โ€“6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 2 pounds)
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (18 oz) bottle BBQ sauce (smoky or sweet)
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Hamburger buns, for serving (optional)
  • Coleslaw, for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place chicken breasts in the crockpot and top with chopped onion and minced garlic.
  2. In a bowl, mix BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Pour the sauce over the chicken.
  3. Cover and cook on LOW for 6โ€“7 hours or HIGH for 3โ€“4 hours, until chicken is tender and easily shredded.
  4. Remove chicken and shred with two forks, then return to the sauce and mix well.
  5. Serve warm on hamburger buns, topped with coleslaw if desired.

Notes

  • Use chicken thighs for a juicier result.
  • Adjust the amount of BBQ sauce depending on your preference for saucy chicken.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
