Description
This Crockpot Hamburger Potato Casserole is a hearty, creamy, and cheesy comfort food classic. Made with layers of tender potatoes, seasoned ground beef, onions, and a rich mushroom sauce, itโs the perfect easy family dinner for busy nights.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (lean or regular)
- 4โ5 medium russet or Yukon gold potatoes, thinly sliced (about 1/8 inch thick)
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (sharp or mild), divided
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional garnishes: Fresh parsley or chopped chives
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess grease and set aside.
- In a small bowl, mix together cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Lightly grease the inside of the crockpot. Layer half of the sliced potatoes on the bottom.
- Spread half of the cooked beef and half of the chopped onions over the potatoes. Pour half of the soup mixture on top, then sprinkle with 1 cup of cheddar cheese.
- Repeat the layers with remaining potatoes, beef, onions, soup mixture, and top with the rest of the cheese.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 6โ7 hours or HIGH for 3โ4 hours, until potatoes are tender and cheese is bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh parsley or chopped chives before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken or cream of celery for a twist.
- Add a pinch of paprika or cayenne for extra flavor.
- Perfect to serve with a fresh green salad or steamed vegetables.
