Description
Firecracker Chicken is a bold and sweet-spicy dish featuring crispy chicken coated in a caramelized, tangy-sweet buffalo sauce. Perfect for game nights, weeknight dinners, or party appetizers.
Ingredients
- Chicken:
- 1 1/2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts or thighs
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 3 eggs, whisked
- 1 cup vegetable oil (plus more as needed)
- 3/4 cup cornstarch
- Sauce:
- 3/4 cup buffalo sauce
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 tsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp butter, melted
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp chili powder (optional)
- 1/2 tsp mustard powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces and season with salt and pepper.
- Dip chicken in whisked eggs, then coat with cornstarch.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken in batches until golden and crispy, about 4โ5 minutes per batch. Drain on paper towels.
- In a saucepan, combine buffalo sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, melted butter, soy sauce, garlic powder, chili powder, mustard powder, and salt. Cook over medium heat until sauce is smooth and slightly thickened.
- Toss fried chicken in the prepared sauce until fully coated.
- Serve immediately, optionally garnished with green onions or sesame seeds.

- Adjust chili powder or buffalo sauce for desired heat level.
- Serve with rice, steamed vegetables, or as a finger-food appetizer.
