These Frosted Coffee Brownies are rich, fudgy, and infused with coffee flavor, topped with a creamy coffee frosting for the perfect caffeinated dessert indulgence.
Ingredients
- Brownies:
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 stick unsalted butter
- 2 teaspoons coffee extract or 1 tablespoon instant coffee
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Coffee Frosting:
- 2-4 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
- 1 1/2 teaspoons instant coffee granules
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
- In a saucepan, melt butter and mix in coffee extract or instant coffee. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, whisk together sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth. Stir in melted butter-coffee mixture.
- Add flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix until just combined.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
- Cool completely before frosting.
- For frosting: In a bowl, mix powdered sugar, butter, instant coffee, and enough heavy cream to reach spreading consistency. Spread over cooled brownies.
- Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
- Adjust coffee amount based on desired intensity of coffee flavor.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days at room temperature.
- Can be frozen for up to 2 months. Thaw before serving.
