Description

One-Pan Sweet and Tangy BBQ Sausage Rice is a flavorful, easy weeknight meal with smoky sausage, tender rice, and a delicious barbecue sauce glaze, ready in under 40 minutes.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb smoked sausage (kielbasa or andouille), sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups uncooked long grain rice
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions or parsley (optional garnish)


Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced sausage and cook until lightly browned.
  2. Add chopped onion and garlic, sautรฉ until fragrant and softened, about 3โ€“4 minutes.
  3. Stir in uncooked rice, coating it with the oil and sausage flavors.
  4. Add chicken broth, barbecue sauce, and soy sauce (if using). Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20โ€“25 minutes, or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions or parsley and serve warm.
