Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 5/8 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups pretzels, crushed
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter (for coating)
  • 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400ยฐF (200ยฐC) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Crush pretzels into fine crumbs using a food processor or rolling pin.
  3. Set up breading station: flour in one bowl, beaten eggs with mustards in another, and crushed pretzels in a third.
  4. Season chicken with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Dredge each piece in flour, then egg mixture, then pretzels, pressing gently to coat.
  5. Place chicken on baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil or melted butter.
  6. Bake for 20โ€“25 minutes, until golden brown and fully cooked.
  7. Meanwhile, make the mustard-cheddar sauce: melt butter in a saucepan, whisk in flour, and cook for 1 minute. Gradually add milk, whisking until smooth and thickened.
  8. Stir in cheddar cheese and Dijon mustard until melted and creamy. Season with salt and pepper.
  9. Serve the crispy chicken topped with warm mustard-cheddar sauce and sprinkle with fresh parsley.
