Rich Chicken Stroganoff is a creamy, comforting dish featuring tender chicken breast in a luscious mushroom sauce. Perfect served over noodles or rice for a hearty dinner.
Ingredients
- 2 chicken breast halves
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper, as desired
- Flour, for coating
- 2 tbsp olive oil, plus extra as needed
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- 8 oz cremini mushrooms, sliced
- 1/2 medium onion, chopped
- 1 tbsp dijon mustard (or to taste)
- 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce (or to taste)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2/3 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup full-fat sour cream
Instructions
- Season chicken breasts with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper, then lightly coat with flour.
- Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook chicken until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil and butter. Sautรฉ mushrooms and onion until tender.
- Add garlic, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook 1โ2 minutes until fragrant.
- Pour in chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Reduce slightly.
- Lower heat and stir in sour cream until sauce is creamy. Return chicken to the skillet and coat with sauce.
- Serve hot over egg noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes.
Notes
- Adjust mustard and Worcestershire sauce to taste for preferred flavor intensity.
- For a lighter version, use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream.
- Garnish with fresh parsley for added color and freshness.
