Description

Rich Chicken Stroganoff is a creamy, comforting dish featuring tender chicken breast in a luscious mushroom sauce. Perfect served over noodles or rice for a hearty dinner.


Ingredients

  • 2 chicken breast halves
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper, as desired
  • Flour, for coating
  • 2 tbsp olive oil, plus extra as needed
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 8 oz cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp dijon mustard (or to taste)
  • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce (or to taste)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2/3 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup full-fat sour cream


Instructions

  1. Season chicken breasts with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper, then lightly coat with flour.
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook chicken until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil and butter. Sautรฉ mushrooms and onion until tender.
  4. Add garlic, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook 1โ€“2 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Reduce slightly.
  6. Lower heat and stir in sour cream until sauce is creamy. Return chicken to the skillet and coat with sauce.
  7. Serve hot over egg noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes.

Notes

  • Adjust mustard and Worcestershire sauce to taste for preferred flavor intensity.
  • For a lighter version, use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream.
