Description

Sizzling Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions is a classic stir-fry made with tender beef strips, crisp onions, and a rich savory sauce. Itโ€™s a quick and flavorful dinner that delivers restaurant-style taste at home in under 30 minutes.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) beef strips (sirloin or ribeye)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for steak)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (for sauce)
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce (optional, for sauce)
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for sauce)
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (for onions)
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine steak with garlic, ginger, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Let marinate for 10โ€“15 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, cornstarch, and set aside.
  3. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add beef and stir-fry until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add 1 tbsp oil and sliced onions. Cook for 3โ€“4 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp.
  5. Return beef to the pan. Pour in sauce mixture and stir well.
  6. Cook for 2โ€“3 minutes until sauce thickens and coats the beef and onions.
  7. Serve hot with rice or noodles.
