Sizzling Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions is a classic stir-fry made with tender beef strips, crisp onions, and a rich savory sauce. Itโs a quick and flavorful dinner that delivers restaurant-style taste at home in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) beef strips (sirloin or ribeye)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for steak)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp soy sauce (for sauce)
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce (optional, for sauce)
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for sauce)
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil (for onions)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine steak with garlic, ginger, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Let marinate for 10โ15 minutes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, cornstarch, and set aside.
- Heat 2 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add beef and stir-fry until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add 1 tbsp oil and sliced onions. Cook for 3โ4 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp.
- Return beef to the pan. Pour in sauce mixture and stir well.
- Cook for 2โ3 minutes until sauce thickens and coats the beef and onions.
- Serve hot with rice or noodles.
Notes
- Slice beef thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness.
- Add bell peppers for extra color and crunch.
