Description
Sour Cream Beef Noodle Casserole is a creamy, cheesy, and comforting dish with tender ground beef, egg noodles, and a rich combination of sour cream, cottage cheese, and cheddar—perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- ½ yellow onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 (15 oz) cans tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 8 oz egg noodles
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook egg noodles according to package directions; drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, brown ground beef with onions and garlic until beef is fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
- Add tomato sauce and Italian seasoning to the beef mixture. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine cooked noodles, beef mixture, sour cream, cottage cheese, and half of the shredded cheddar cheese. Mix until well combined.
- Transfer mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Top with remaining cheddar cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Serve warm.
Notes
- Use whole wheat noodles for a healthier version.
- Add a pinch of crushed red pepper for a little heat.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for 2-3 days and reheated.
