This 1-Hour Smoked Gouda and Caramelized Onion Dip is a party favorite! Rich smoked Gouda, sweet caramelized onions, and creamy cheese come together for a decadent dip perfect for gatherings, game days, or anytime you want a savory indulgence.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 ounces smoked Gouda cheese, shredded
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add sliced onions, salt, and pepper. Cook slowly for 25โ30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onions are deeply caramelized.
- Preheat oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
- In a mixing bowl, combine caramelized onions, smoked Gouda, cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, and minced garlic. Mix until smooth.
- Transfer the mixture to a small baking dish and bake for 20โ25 minutes until bubbly and lightly golden on top.
- Garnish with chopped fresh chives and serve warm with crackers, bread, or vegetable sticks.

- For extra flavor, add a pinch of smoked paprika or cayenne pepper.
