Description

These Witch Finger Breadsticks are spooky, fun, and perfect for Halloween! Crispy breadsticks shaped like fingers with olive ‘fingernails’ and an optional dipping sauce make a creepy and delicious treat.

Ingredients

Dough:

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (100-110ยฐF)
  • 1 tbsp instant yeast
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 3 tbsp salted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp fine pink Himalayan sea salt
  • 4 1/4 cups bread flour

Toppings:

  • 6 green olives, sliced in half
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp parmesan, shredded or grated

Dipping Sauce (Optional):

  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 jar pizza sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit until foamy, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add melted butter, salt, and bread flour. Mix until dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Divide dough into equal portions and shape each into a finger shape. Press an olive half at the tip for the fingernail.
  7. Mix olive oil, Italian seasoning, melted butter, garlic powder, and parmesan. Brush over breadsticks.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Optional: Prepare dipping sauce by blending green pepper, pizza sauce, and shredded mozzarella. Serve warm with breadsticks.

Notes

  • For extra creepiness, make small cuts in the dough to resemble knuckles.
  • The dipping sauce can be served warm or at room temperature.
  • Perfect for Halloween parties and kidsโ€™ snacks!
