Ingredients
- 1 (16 oz) package frozen potato and cheese pierogies
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 1 (14 oz) kielbasa sausage, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the sliced onion for 6–8 minutes until softened and lightly caramelized.
- Add the sliced kielbasa and cook for another 4–5 minutes until lightly browned.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the sour cream, softened cream cheese, milk, garlic powder, black pepper, and paprika until smooth.
- Arrange the frozen pierogies evenly in the prepared baking dish. Top with the onion and kielbasa mixture.
- Spread the cream sauce evenly over the casserole and sprinkle with the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- Sharp cheddar adds the best flavor, but Colby Jack or mozzarella also work well.
- For extra richness, sprinkle crispy bacon over the casserole before serving.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days and reheat in the oven or microwave.
